Already taken

We list only buildings without visible repair work in public DOB data and re-check them every week. But work without a permit and contracts that are not filed yet cannot be seen in public data. When you learn that a case is taken, tell us with one click.

How it works

  1. Open the case sheet and click Already taken. Optionally add a short reason (for example "contractor on site", "engineer says bid is closed").
  2. The case disappears from your list (you can show hidden cases again with the filter).
  3. We re-check the case. If two or more subscribers report the same case without a public filing, it is marked "reported taken" for everyone; the next weekly run settles it.
  4. If a permit appears, the case leaves the list for all subscribers, and the weekly e-mail names the reason.

What we do with your report

Other subscribers never learn who reported a case. Reports help us measure how good the list is: the share of reported cases is one of the numbers we watch. A report is not a complaint and does not entitle you to a refund for a single case (terms, section 3).
